How we work

A Hackney shop, careful about hygiene

TN & T Trading Ltd is a private limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 12049201, incorporated in June 2019, trading from 8b Ellingfort Road, London E8 3PA. Where our local authority requires registration for special treatments, we hold [LOCAL AUTHORITY REGISTRATION NUMBER].

Tools are cleaned and disinfected between every client and razor blades are single use, without exception. Hot towel shaving puts a blade on skin, so tell us about skin conditions, cold sores, recent facial treatments or blood-thinning medication — we would rather decline than cause a problem. Colour and bleach need a patch test at least 48 hours beforehand, including for regulars whose test has expired. And our services are cosmetic: we make no claim to treat any scalp or skin condition.

Frequently asked

The questions we get most

Do you cut Afro and curly hair?

Yes, and we cut it dry. Curly and Afro hair behaves differently wet and dry, so cutting it wet means guessing at the finished shape — which is why so many cuts look wrong once they dry.

Can you do the cut in this photo?

We will tell you honestly. Hair texture, density, hairline and growth pattern decide a great deal, and the person in the photo may simply have different hair to yours.

I have coloured my hair for years. Do I need a patch test?

Yes. Sensitisation can develop after years without any problem, which is exactly why the test is repeated. If your last one is out of date we will decline the colour.

Is a hot towel shave safe for me?

Usually, but tell us about skin conditions, cold sores, recent facial treatments or blood thinners first. Sometimes the right answer is to wait, and we will say so.

Are your tools cleaned between clients?

Yes, cleaned and disinfected every time, and razor blades are single use. It is worth asking this wherever you go.

Do I need an appointment?

Not necessarily — walk in and we will fit you in when a chair is free. At weekends an appointment is worth having, because the wait can be long.

Due a cut?

Book a chair, or walk in and we will fit you in when one is free.
